Mother, friend, community leader, and incredible daughter, Mariana De Jesus Velez Torres, sadly passed away on Sunday, July 18th at 1 am after a long and hard battle with pancreatic cancer at the age of 69.

Not only did we lose our mother, but we lost our best friend. She was the strongest, most loving, and caring woman we will ever know and we're forever lucky to be able to call her my mother. She was loved by many and will be extremely missed. We can’t put into words how we feel right now. She fought up to the very end like the warrior she is and we are just happy that she is no longer in pain.

We’re starting this GoFundMe to help cover all expenses for cremation/medical expenses/storage cost/etc., and most importantly for our flight to her home of Guayaquil, Ecuador, as she wished to be buried with our grandmother, Maria Esther Torres, who is buried in Cementerio Patrimonial de Guayaquil.

We greatly appreciate all contributions and send our condolences and love to everyone whose life she’s touched.

Madre, amiga, líder comunitaria y increíble hija, Mariana De Jesús Vélez Torres, falleció tristemente el domingo 18 de julio a la 1 am después de una larga y dura batalla contra el cáncer de páncreas a la edad de 69 años.

No solo perdimos a nuestra madre, sino que también perdimos a nuestra mejor amiga. Era la mujer más fuerte, cariñosa y cariñosa que jamás conoceré y siempre tendré la suerte de poder llamarla nuestra madre. Muchos la amaban y la extrañaremos mucho. No podemos expresar con palabras cómo nos sentimos en este momento. Luchó hasta el final como la guerrera que es y estamos felices de que ya no tenga dolor.
