Bailey’s Liver Transplant Journey
Donation protected
Bailey Alyssa, 30 years old, has been diagnosed with liver failure which has caused Renal failure. Bailey faces a big battle as she is in much need of a Liver transplant. While it takes at least 6 months to get on the transplant list, Bailey has to have continuous medical care to try and keep everything else working properly.
She was let go by her employer while she was in a 23 day hospital stay. She was a medical assistant and scribe for many years.
Besides astronomical medical bills Bailey still needs assistance with the usual bills of rent, utilities & other household bills.
A lot of you know Bailey personally as she spent her youth at the football & cheerleading fields in Coconut Creek since being 4 years old. She was a cheerleader, teen coach, coach & volunteer for most of her childhood. Bailey knew everyone & everyone knew Bailey
UPDATE: 04/10/2023
It’s been 90 days since I’ve been at Woodmont hospital and 47 days since I’ve been at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami.
I’ve been through everything you can think of and then some.
I’ve had the opportunity to meet the best nurses, the best doctors & the best staff overall.
That being said, I’m officially on the transplant list and could have a liver & kidney transplant from this moment forward. My amazing doctors have said they believe it won’t be to long of a wait.
I am so excited to embark on this new journey and to get this second chance at life that I know I deserve.
I want to thank everyone for their well wishes, their prayers and donations.
Prayers, shares and donations are still being accepted through my GoFundme (below) or cash app. All donations go to helping pay house bills and an enormous amount of medical bills. I’m extremely thankful and greatful to embrace journey with all of you by my side.
I have a long road ahead but with my family & friends by my side I can do anything! I love you all
***** NEW UPDATE 2/12/24 *****
Baileys is back in the ICU & her situation has become more complicated. Since January 1st, 2024, Bailey has spent approximately 35 of 44 possible days at Woodmont Hospital with most of these days in intensive care.
Baileys kidneys have been affected by the liver failure. The doctors are now focusing on keeping the kidneys functioning so that after a liver transplant down the road, her other organs will work fine & she’ll be able to resume a normal life.
Her hemoglobin, glucose, potassium, Amonia & other important levels have gotten worse or are not functioning properly. When the Amonia levels increase, this causes the body to not be able to remove toxins from her body on their own. While medication helps, it can cause issues in her bloodstream, confusion in her brain and other problems. She also has had trouble stabilizing her very low blood pressure.
Bailey is a beautiful young lady who has so much life to live and she’s not done yet!
Bailey can really use your thoughts, prayers & assistance as she goes through this incredible journey. If you would like more information please contact me at [email redacted] to discuss. If you’re able to help Bailey, please consider clicking the link below. No amount is to small or big. 100% of the donations will go towards Baileys cause.
Thanks in advance for your support. God Bless!
Acute liver failure is loss of liver function that occurs quickly — in days or weeks — usually in a person who has no preexisting liver disease. It's most commonly caused by a hepatitis virus or drugs, such as acetaminophen. Acute liver failure is less common than chronic liver failure, which develops more slowly.
Acute liver failure, also known as fulminant hepatic failure, can cause serious complications, including bleeding and increased pressure in the brain. It's a medical emergency that requires hospitalization. Depending on the cause, acute liver failure can sometimes be reversed with treatment. In many situations, though, a liver transplant may be the only cure.
Mayo Clinic Liver transplant. When acute liver failure can't be reversed, the only treatment may be a liver transplant. During a liver transplant, a surgeon removes your damaged liver and replaces it with a healthy liver from a donor.
