Luby-Reynolds Medical Support

I am the long time friend and coworker of Ciara Reynolds, her husband Connor Luby and their four beautiful children; Ruairí(4) Ciarán(3), Cillian(1) and the newest member of the bunch: Ruadhán(2mo). This amazing family gives so much to all the ones they love and now are experiencing every parent’s worst nightmare with a very sick child in the hospital.

Unfortunately, this past week the Luby-Reynolds household was hit with what they thought was just a bad virus. The virus went from bad to worse and unfortunately hit their oldest daughter, Ruairí (pronounced Rory) the hardest. What started as a virus turned into pneumonia.

Ruairí’s pnuemonia progressed beyond any at-home treatment and she was admitted to the hospital on May 4th, 2022. The doctors felt they needed to take immediate measures given the severity of the infection and she was moved to the Pediatric ICU on May 5th and placed on a ventilator, chest tube, and central line to try and combat the infection. Doctors have estimated that based on the level of infection Ruairi will likely need to stay in the hospital for upwards of a month.

The medical costs of an extended stay in the hospital add up fast. With this fund we hope to ease the financial burden of the mounting medical bills beyond what insurance covers, logistics of both staying at the hospital, missed work, and care of their three other children.

This family is near and dear to so many, and give so much of themselves to their communities. Connor is a high school English teacher for White Bear Lake, Ciara is the director of Beginner Programs for Mactír Irish Dance in Minneapolis, where Ruairi made her stage debut this year their Irish dancing in their Paddy’s Day with the Pack celebration this past March. Their family recently grew, as they welcomed their fourth child to a busy and fun family of six.
