Loving Care Kigali

We are Loving Care Kigali (Rwanda), a group of volunteers who support our community’s elderly with their day-to-day struggles and street kids by building a football community.

Vision:

Creating a vibrant and inclusive community in Kigali, Rwanda, where senior citizens are supported with compassion and dignity, and where underprivileged children find hope through football, empowering them to build a brighter future.

Mission:

At Loving Care Kigali, our mission is to provide holistic support to senior citizens, enabling them to lead fulfilling lives through assistance with day-to-day tasks, companionship, and access to essential resources.

Additionally, we strive to transform the lives of disadvantaged children by organizing football training by professional football players, fostering their talents, and promoting positive values.

Activities:

Senior Support Program:

Our NGO facilitates a comprehensive elderly support program that addresses various aspects of senior citizens' well-being. Volunteers are deployed to assist seniors with day-to-day tasks, ensuring their comfort, safety, and overall quality of life. We started the program in January 2021.

a) Companionship and Personal Assistance:

Volunteers engage with elderly individuals on a regular basis, offering companionship, empathetic listening, and emotional support. They also assist with tasks such as fetching water, cleaning, and cooking, promoting independence and reducing social isolation.

b) Basic Needs Support:

We strive to meet the basic needs of seniors by providing support in accessing essential resources. This includes facilitating access to insurance coverage, water and food.

Football Training for Street Children:

In collaboration with professional football players, we organize specialized football training programs for children living on the streets. Through these programs, we aim to instill values such as teamwork, discipline, and resilience, while creating interpersonal connections and nurturing their talent and providing them with a positive outlet for self-expression. The Street Football Project started in April 2023 with a handful of kids participating, but within a few weeks attracted over 50 kids from all parts of town! We are looking for support to provide materials as well as food and drinks, much needed after training.

We are committed to improving the lives of senior citizens by offering support, companionship, and access to essential resources. We work with the street kids for them to connect with other, do physical activities, build discipline and simply have fun together!

Empowering Volunteers:

We strive to provide meaningful opportunities for volunteers to give back to their community, offering them purpose and a sense of fulfillment through their dedicated service to senior citizens and street children.

Knowledge and Skill Enhancement:

We actively promote the personal and professional growth of our volunteers by providing training and development opportunities. We aim to enhance their knowledge and skills in caregiving, community engagement, and youth development.

Principles:

Community: We believe in fostering a strong sense of community, promoting connections and inclusivity among individuals of all ages and backgrounds.

Wellbeing & Safety: We prioritize the physical and emotional well-being of both senior citizens and volunteers, ensuring a safe and nurturing environment for all.

Privacy and Trust: We uphold the highest standards of privacy and confidentiality, respecting the personal information and dignity of the individuals we serve.

Our organization operates on the principle that volunteers contribute their time and skills, while we seek to support seniors with essential needs, such as water, insurance, and, whenever possible, food. Monetary assistance is not provided directly to seniors and street kids.

Raising and spending:

We are looking to raise EUR 10,000 to spend over 12 months, from July 2023 through June 2024. We expect to support up to 10 seniors and organize This amount will be spent equally between our Seniors Project and Street Football. Every cent will be used for our core activities - there are no hidden expenses for things such as management.

Seniors Project Costs: expenses for volunteers (public transport and internet/calls), drinking water, health insurance and an emergency reserve.

Street Football Costs: expenses for volunteers (public transport and internet/calls), game materials, and food and drinks.

We will publish reports on activities and expenses regularly.
