Hello all!
We are writing this on behalf of our classmate, future colleague and most importantly- friend, Lorena McClure. We met Lorena 10 months ago at the start of our PA school journey.
Lorena has overcome a lot of obstacles in her life. Lorena moved to the US from Argentina in the early 2000s. English is her second language and yet she still managed to get her bachelors degree and maintain a grade point average strong enough to get her into a very competitive PA school. She beat the odds!!
Lorena also has a two-year-old baby at home with her husband John. The beginning of PA school was challenging - as it was for all of us- and most of us aren’t 44, a mother or a wife. Again, she beat the odds.
We are now in the 3rd semester of Didactic year with only 8 short weeks left! Unfortunately, our good friend Lorena was just diagnosed with a rare form of breast cancer called “triple negative breast cancer”. With such a short time left of the didactic year Lorena has decided to stay in the program!!!! Her strength is admiring!
Lorena will be enduring a 3-6 month journey of chemotherapy, as that is the best way to treat her type of cancer. We are asking for any type of donation to help Lorena and her family, as they are living off one income. We would like to raise enough money to help with daycare for her child, help with the cost of some of her student loans and help with the cost of travel to and from her treatment. Any little bit helps!
