Lillian Turner was born December 20, 2016. She was born to Evan Turner (from Gooding, ID) and Rachel Turner (from Half Moon Bay, CA) in Tacoma, WA. She was a pleasant Christmas surprise to her whole family, especially her big sister Sophia.
In late April, Rachel was playing with Lilly after a bath when she found a few small bumps just below the skin on Lillian's abdomen. After a trip to the Pediatrician and the Urgent Care clinic, Pediatric Oncologists from Seattle Children's Hospital called and gave Lilly a preliminary diagnosis of Neuroblastoma, Stage 4S. In addition to the three tumors on Lilly's abdomen, tumors were found on both adrenal glands, between her ribs, and a large tumor resting against her tailbone. Chemotherapy treatments followed soon after. In the month following diagnosis, Lilly has needed multiple trips to the Emergency Department, multiple blood transfusions, and is currently admitted to the In Patient Ward at the hospital due to side effects of the chemotherapy.
Although unexpected and heartbreaking, the cancer was found early. The Doctors are optimistic that Lillian will respond well to treatment and live a long life. Evan and Rachel are prepared to do whatever they have to do for their little girl. Their future consists of surgeries, additional cancer treatment, constant observation by the Pediatric Oncology team at Seattle Children's, a lot of traveling, various therapies, not to mention the vast amount amount of unseen costs for potential therapy associated with aggressive cancer treatment in the years to come.
Evan, Rachel and their two girls have such a huge and loving support system. Probably more than they even know. We are asking for family, friends and anyone who reads this to please keep this baby girl and her family in their thoughts and prayers. And, if you are able and want to give monetarily, please, please do. They have a long road ahead of them. I know that with God and the help from everyone who is touched by Lillian's story, we can lighten the load and bring blessings to this family and others in so many ways.
