Running 55km for the Ocean

Ahoy, I’m Ben — runner, sailor, and ocean lover.

On November 10th, I’m running 55km from Barrenjoey Lighthouse to Hornby Lighthouse, tracing the spine of Sydney’s wild coast.

No road closures. No cheering crowds.
Just me, the wind, the cliffs, and the ocean — the same ocean that shaped who I am.

These two lighthouses have guided countless sailors, including me. This run is my way of honouring them and protecting the waters they’ve watched over for over a century.

But this isn’t just about running.
It’s about raising $55,500 — $1,000 for every kilometre — for Sea Shepherd Australia, a crew that’s been fearlessly defending marine life for over 45 years.

Here’s what that kind of money can do:

Intercept illegal fishing ships that kill over 11,000 sharks per hour

Remove tonnes of plastic from remote beaches before it reaches the food chain

Patrol breeding grounds for endangered whales and stop poachers in their tracks

️ Support direct-action campaigns that seize illegal drift nets — some as long as 30km

After watching a Sea Shepherd documentary, I went plant-based. I couldn’t unsee what was happening beneath the surface — and I couldn’t walk away from it either.

Now I’m running towards it. And I’m asking for your support.

If you love the ocean, believe in protecting what can’t speak for itself, or just want your money to actually do something — I’d be honoured if you backed this mission.

Together, we can fund real action. Not slogans. Not promises. Results.

Let’s make waves.
For the whales. For the reefs. For the next generation.

Thanks for being part of it,
Beni
