The cancer has returned! I have had two surgeries already last March,
surgery to remove the tumor and organs related to this cancer only to find out 8 months later that it has returned, in a new form. My new diagnosis is called Epithelial mucinous ovarian cancer, related to mucinous appendix cancer also have a secondary germ cell teratoma dermoid.
I will be having a 3rd procedure now that I have been properly diagnosed, The surgery will be performed at the maisoneuve rosemount hospital in Montreal Quebec . This is a very rare form of cancer that originates in the ovaries but since they were removed the cancer has spread to the tip of my liver, and on my small bowel, I also have a perforated peritoneum which must be repaired and an umbilical hernia.
it creates mucinous tumors that attach themselves to the outside of organs and insides of the body cavity.
This past year I have not been able to work and my dear husband Brian has been on and off of work due to the high level
of care I've needed during and after my first surgeries. Now that I need another surgery, called hipec, (heated inter
peritoneal chemotherapy) which is a very invasive and long surgery, my husband and I will not be able to work for the foreseeable future. This surgery could possibly last up to 20 hours with a very
long recovery time, I will be in the hospital for 3 or 4 weeks possibly longer if there are complications, I need my husband by my side while I go through this surgery, he is my support and my only caregiver during all this! with chemo regimens afterwards, followed with treatments that will require me to travel to Montreal Quebec
from my home in Long Sault, Ontario. This may continue for who knows how long afterwards.
While the surgery and specialists are covered, the cost of necessary medication, housing, food and
therapies are not covered along with every day life expenses. We are asking for family, friends and followers to support me with what you can during this challenging time in my life.
I have always been a life long caretaker/rescuer of many stray and injured animals in my life and I live on a small
piece of land in the country where I've had room to do so. This has always been my passion and my joy. These animals will also require feeding and when necessary, medical attention during my recovery. This will be the first time in my life that I have not been able to provide this attention to my animals. I have never been someone to ask for any help in the care of these animals, but now, I need the help of my family and friends while I will be in recovery.
Anything you can give to help us during this time will be immensely helpful and your generosity toward my family and I during this time will not be forgotten! Thank you in advance.
