I am making this go fund me for my youngest twin brothers, Josh and Jordan, who would never do this for themselves.   

I am inspired to make this for them as I have seen on multiple occasions how giving they have been in the past with friends, family, and even strangers’ go fund me campaigns.

With that said, as some of you may know it has been a really rough year for them with their two dogs, Shila and Haden.  After a long fight and several surgeries, their dog, Shila, lost her second battle with cancer 4 months ago at the age of 7.  As many animal owners know, it has been a very trying time for the twins ever since.

As if losing their first dog wasn’t difficult enough, a few months ago, Haden, who is only 6, began to have various medical problems including ongoing seizures, loss of balance, and impaired coordination. After several scans, a spinal tap, and various overnights in the hospital, she was ultimately diagnosed with a rare brain condition.  Haden is now on a trial medication as well as an anti-seizure medication, daily, for the rest of her life.
 
Last week Haden began having diarrhea, vomiting, and blood in her stool.  Imaging at the OSU Animal Hospital found 3 lesions in her intestine, resulting in toxic waste leaking into her stomach.  She needed to have emergency surgery to repair these lesions in order to prevent her from going into septic shock.

Yesterday, this estimated 90 minute surgery ended just over 3 hours later where they had to remove 2 feet of intestine.  Prior to the surgery, Haden was given a 50% survival rate, including recovery time. Currently, Haden is recovering under the care of the staff at OSU.

Including the most recent surgery, Joshua and Jordan are looking at over $15,000 worth of medical bills, for Haden alone, since the end of 2018. This does not include the thousands of dollars already spent, and left to pay on Shilas two battles with cancer and her multiple surgeries to remove the tumors.

I know this may be a long shot and I realize many of you could not fathom spending this much money since Haden and Shila are “just a pet”, but these dogs have not been “just a pet”. They have been the greatest running partners, passengers, college roommates, and best friends for Joshua and Jordan.

I also realize that there are also those of you who have felt this type of love for your pet, lost a pet, or even felt hopeless during a medical complication and are able to empathize with my brothers.

These two dogs have had all of my brothers’ love, and it pains me to see the struggle, both emotionally and financially, that they have encountered this year.

If you could please find it in your heart to assist with alleviating some of the stress placed on my brothers during this process, whether financially or emotionally, I know they would greatly appreciate it.

UPDATE: 

Haden has now been home for a week and is doing much better while recovering. They got her test results back this morning and luckily there is no underlying disease or cancer. She has a check up next week to see what the next steps are.

She couldn’t have done it without everyones generous donations and thoughts/prayers. She will continue to be on medication her whole life so as mentioned before any sharing of this post and donations will go a very long way in helping her.
