Zeus, our almost 11 year old husky was being uncharacteristic and lethargic out of nowhere - after being by my side for so many years, I could tell he was in pain. I had to rush him to an emergency vet about an hour away. After about a 6 hour long wait to be seen by a vet, we were given little hope for his future and a big price tag for an exploratory surgery to find out the issue. We were scared from the first x-ray that he may have a tumor or growth and we had to consider his quality of life if it was cancerous and needed chemo... he had been there for me through many moves, my daughters best friend to grow up with - with Zeus in my life I hadn't been alone before in 11 years. I owed it to him to get to the bottom of this and not give up. He has been an angel and unremarkably healthy until now.. Zeus ended up staying for 3 days and 2 nights, getting multiple x-rays and an ultrasound, pain medicine and bloodwork and we finally found out that he was suffering from a testicular torsion and cryptorchid ( essentially his testes twisted and became highly inflamed and was cutting off blood supply). He was rushed to emergency surgery to remove the testes and the inflamed tissue. Tissue was sent off so we can get a better understanding of what happened, as this can take be associated with many diseases and we aren't out of the woods yet until that comes back in a couple weeks.
After such a long and dreadful weekend we were finally able to bring Zeus home. He is comfortably resting for now and is on restrictions for a few weeks before going back.
I maxed out cards and spent more of my savings(That was to buy a house) to help get the answers and treatments he needed, totaling $6,173.00 already.
All donations will be used for vet bills and for recovery. Please share and donate if you are able , share some kind words in support, anything is appreciated.
