Brent Thorpe ‘DADDY’ and his ‘BOYS’ have been invited to The International Dublin Gay Theatre Festival in May where we will play for eight performances and then on to London where ‘DADDY’ will play for three nights at the iconic King’s Head Theatre. This short season is intended to lead to a mainstage production at the King’s Head in 2025.

We are very excited and we need your help. DADDY has no intention of leaving his BOYS behind. Jack Mitsch and Patrick Phillips are recent graduates of Actors Centre Australia and this tour is a fantastic opportunity for them fresh out of drama school. The cost of touring is exorbitant and we need some assistance from you to help with basic airfares and accommodation.

About us:

Brent Thorpe, Patrick Phillips and Jack Mitsch are Sydney based independent theatre practitioners who work solidly and rigorously to maintain a solid profile on the Sydney performance scene. Brent Thorpe has been awarded grants from Marrickville Council and the Australia Council for the Arts. We are a group of highly motivated self starters who are confident in our ability to successfully execute this Festival project. Previous festivals include: Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2015, 2016, 2018 and 2022. Brighton Fringe 2023, The Dublin International Theatre Festival 2023, Sydney Mardi Gras 2009, 2013, 2023 and 2024, Sydney Fringe Festival 2013, Melbourne International Comedy Festival 2023 and Midsumma Festival 2024.

DADDY has been created under the expert guidance of acclaimed theatre veteran Adam Cook. Adam is a graduate of the NIDA Directors Course. He has directed over 160 productions across Australia, London, Canada and the United States. He was Artistic Director of the State Theatre Company of South Australia from 2005 to 2012, the longest tenure of the Company’s 40 year history. He won a Fringe First Award (The Edinburgh Fringe Festival) for Tyler Coppin’s ‘Lyrebird Tales of Helpmann.’ He is currently Head of Acting at Actors Centre Australia.

WHAT WE NEED:

We need to raise $10,000 which will help with airfares and accommodation. If we can find 100 people to donate $100 we will reach our goal.
