Hi, my name is Tina Ryan, I am fundraising on behalf of my friend and fellow activist, Stephen Mandile. Steve aka The Kindness Guy has been left with no choice but to retain counsel to fight against a baseless no trespass order and a restraining order filed by the Superintendent of Uxbridge Public Schools, Michael Baldassarre.
Mr. Baldassarre has been bullying and harassing Steve because he continues to speak out against the inappropriate and unprofessional behavior of the superintendent.
Steve filed a police report on 5/28/23 after an incident where the superintendent, while intoxicated, attempted to harass Steve and disrupt a memorial fundraiser in town. Since that time, Steve has been targeted. He has been featured in a blog written by the Superintendent. This blog included a false and dangerous narrative about Steve inciting violence while being a vocal ally for the LGBTQIA + community in Uxbridge.
On 9/5/23, Steve utilized public comment to speak about the continued inappropriate behavior and the many problematic blogs written by the Superintendent during a school committee meeting. A couple days later he received a no tresspass order on Uxbridge school letterhead signed by the superintendent with no knowledge or consent of the School Committee.
Every morning, for the past 2 years, Steve greets the staff, students and caregivers as they come to school holding signs encouraging kindness and inclusion with anti-bullying messages similar to the above picture. The no trespass order, currently in effect, prevents Steve from volunteering in Uxbridge public schools despite donating approximately 500 hours of his time in the last 2 years.
Today, 9/18/23, Steve received a summons to appear at the municipal court in Concord (over an hour away from Uxbridge) because the superintendent filed a restraining order against him there. The restraining order if successful, will severely limit Steve's ability to carry out the job that he was elected to do - that of Select Board member for the town of Uxbridge.
The money raised by this go fund me will be used to hire an attorney to fight both the no trespass order and the restraining order and any costs affiliated with the lawsuit. Any unused dollars will be donated to various student support services for individual student needs and anti-bullying programming.
