Lauren Stevens

For 15 years Lauren lived with the knowledge that one day the tumor in her brain would begin to grow and would require intense treatment. Last spring she received the news that it was time. Time for a grueling surgery to remove whatever tumor possible, and time to begin intense radiation cycles combined with chemotherapy. And finally, an additional one-year chemotherapy cycle. 

If the reality of undergoing treatment so demanding were not enough burden to carry, on November 12, her employment was terminated and along with it, her health insurance. Fortunately, Cleveland Clinic's patient assistance program will cover her COBRA payments for a period of 12 months.

However, her out of pocket costs are astronomical. Her chemotherapy  alone is $1,000 per month.  

Lauren has always fought for and cared for everyone else around her. She's worked hard since age 16 and has never had to rely upon anyone's help to care for her son and after, her son's family. Few of us are as generous with others as she is.

I would now like us to gather together and to lift Lauren financially to help her face the costs of her continued treatment. Without our help, it's likely she will have to stop her chemotherapy treatment. And I would also like her to be able to start to think about her life post-treament.  She's lost everything and will have to rebuild her life from scratch. 

As a group of us who love Lauren like to say "Our arms are not tired".
