Hello,

My name is Rakia Couey(30), I am the daughter of Lashandra(50) and the mother of two wonderful kids: girl(6 years old) and boy(3months). I am a California resident and my mother resides in North Las Vegas with my grandmother. They both only moved there just three years ago. Over the years my family and I have traveled back and forth to visit one another for holidays and other occasions. On January 6th 2023, while my mother was home alone , a vessel in her brain ruptured and she began to suffer from unbearable migraines and other symptoms. For four days she self medicated at home in hopes of relieving her head pain, with no knowledge of her current condition. She went to the nearest hospital and at that time was told about the aneurysm.

She was then transported to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center for further assessment and treatment. A hospital that specializes in treatment for people with these kinds of severe conditions. As I was making arrangements to travel and be with my mother, I was informed of her condition worsening and in need of immediate attention. I am gracious to say we made it in time to be at my mothers side before the procedure took place. All my life my mother has worked and provided for me and my family. She’s always worked hard and strived to be successful in anything she devoted her time to and we idolize her in every way. We depend on her wisdom and realness to keep us pushing forward. A major part of why she relocated to North Las Vegas from CA was to pursue her dreams of being a full time realtor and care for my grandmother, who was diagnosed with cancer 10 years ago. My mother has a strong spirit and is fighting to stay here with us. We are blessed to say the doctors and staff at Sunrise saved my mothers life. Not once but twice, as during the surgery the vessel ruptured a second time. My mother being here with us today is nothing short of a miracle. As her only child, it is my honor and my duty to help her in every way possible. During this time I am asking for donations to help with maintaining a home, assist with medical bills and other expenses. I hope our story touches you and you find in your heart to say a prayer for us if you cannot contribute any funds at this.
