Help Me Get to Japan
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Sarah and I’m trying to fundraise enough money for a summer study abroad trip to Japan by April 30th.
I’m currently studying Japanese at UMBC so I can be a translator. I've always loved reading and over the pandemic I started getting into classical Japanese literature. That's the whole reason I've wanted to become a translator, because I want to translate these books into English for everyone who doesn't know Japanese to read.
Studying abroad in Japan has been a dream of mine for a very long time and I recently got accepted into a study abroad class for three weeks this summer (June 12th-July 3rd) to go to Nara, Kyoto, and Toyko. While we're there we'll be exploring famous sites in each city -- ancient temples, museums, monuments -- as well as smaller resturants and local places. I'll be able to learn more about the language through daily use in real life scenarios and blend it with my love of art and history. As we move from city to city, we're also able to go and explore which means I will be able to gain a well rounded view of the country.
However, even though I'll be working and so will my parents, it's still too expensive when balancing regular college fees. Any help is beyond welcome.
The money you donate here will cover the billable fees that are sent to the school for the course. It will also cover airfare and other travel expenses that I may encounter while abroad. Every cent of it will be used to further my education.
Thank you so much for taking the time to even click on this gofundme link. Even if you can't donate, I am incredibly lucky to be blessed with enough resources to have gotten this far and would appreciate any shares if possible.
Thank you.
