Hi, my name is Sarah, and it breaks my heart to say this — but I need help.
On June 8th, while traveling in Indonesia, I was involved in a serious scooter accident that caused severe trauma to the entire left side of my body. I had to perform a makeshift tourniquet on my own arm just to save it while waiting over 2.5 hours for transport to the nearest hospital.
I was hospitalized in Lombok for 18 days, undergoing multiple complex surgeries — including major orthopedic reconstruction and plastic surgery to my forearm, wrist, knee, and foot. Thankfully, I avoided head trauma, but the damage to my body has been profound.
I’m now back home in recovery, currently unable to walk or use my left arm/hand. I’m in ongoing physical and occupational therapy and doing everything I can to heal. However, I’m unable to work, and the financial strain has become overwhelming.
I’m also facing a second surgery scheduled for August 7th, with substantial out-of-pocket costs not covered by insurance — and the mounting medical bills are keeping me up at night.
My family and partner have been incredible sources of support, and I’m deeply grateful. But the costs have surpassed what I can ask of just a few people. So I’m reaching out to my wider community, hoping for some light in a dark time.
If you’re able to contribute, no matter the amount, I will be forever grateful. Your generosity would mean the world to me — and bring me one step closer to healing.
With love and humble thanks,
Sarah
