K.R. Azad Memorial Scholarship in World Percussion

KR Azad was a true friend, a brilliant musician, wildly intelligent and curious about the world.  We are here to honor him and keep his legacy alive through music education.


The family and professors of KU School of Music are beginning this campaign.

We are raising funds to establish music/percussion scholarship at KU in KR Azad’s name.  
When we reach our goal, we will transfer the total raised - ($25k min) to KU Endowment as a music scholarship.  The interest each year will provide a scholarship for a student musician at KU that commits to focusing on world percussion.  KR Azad was the the first students to take part in all world percussion classes during his time at KU for many years.  This scholarship will help to foster young musicians interest and curiosity of world music in KR Azad’s name.
