Hey there. Our names are Veronica and Kisa. We're best buds for life and we need a little help from you, if you have a few minutes to read our story.

Kisa has been with me since she was six months old and we've been inseparable since the day I brought her home. She's a great travel dog so I take her everywhere I go that allows dogs. We love walking the nature trails nearby where we live and Kisa is such a sweet, loving dog she doesn't even disturb the geese and squirrels and other animals we encounter on our strolls. She's content to observe them from a distance, often looking up to me as if to say "Aren't they interesting?" Her willingness to sit and watch is one of the things that makes her so precious, but also the source of a very recent bit of unlucky news.

Kisa's right eye is affected by secondary glaucoma and needs to be removed. The sooner the better so we can minimize the risk of spreading to other organs, namely her brain. If you're going to have glaucoma, secondary is the kind you want because it carries a 95% chance of being localized only to the affected organ and not spreading beyond that. Still, Kisa's eye is noticeably swollen and has started to bulge slightly. We noticed this a few weeks ago and I immediately had her in to the vet. A few appointments later and we have our diagnosis and a course of treatment. Unfortunately, surgery is the only solution.

Kisa and I have been through some big changes recently in our lives, which have included job changes, moves to different cities, and other factors that have left us a little low on cash. We were chugging along pretty well until this urgent surgery came up, so we're reaching out to ask for help in covering the cost of the surgery, the various exams and bloodwork and medicines that went into the diagnosis, and the cost of aftercare. If you have anything set aside to spare, we would greatly appreciate it. We look forward to moving past this and getting back out on the trails.
