Kicking Cancer, Round 2

Here we go ... again!

As many of you know, I was diagnosed with ductal carcinoma on February 3. Simply put, breast cancer. After meeting with a great oncology surgeon and discussing all options open to me, I have decided to proceed with a bilateral mastectomy on March 24.

Last year I faced -- and defeated -- uterine cancer, and I am ready to do the same with this bitch! I have an amazing support system near and far, and while I'm naturally nervous about the surgery itself, I am confident that I will beat this. Mom, Amber and Hilary will be keeping me company for the first few weeks of my recovery, and I'll do my best to update here as often as I can.

It's not in my nature to ask for help, but I know that's silly ... I'll likely be putting up some meal requests as the surgery gets closer, and any financial help to cover my out of pocket medical expenses and travel to and from Denver wouldn't be turned away. I've already gotten so much support from friends and family, and I can't tell you how much that helps. I'm very, very lucky.
