Keeping Malachi's vision alive

A gifted soul who connects to others through various artforms, Malachi Castillote is an accomplished young artist who has produced original music and dabbled in numerous art genres. At eighteen years old and with a promising career ahead of him, Malachi was given a terminal diagnosis of Battens Disease CLN2 that would cause tremors and vision failure. While Malachi is unwilling to shy away from a challenge, he continued to pursue art, but his battle has taken a turn as he is now legally blind with what vision that he has left deteriorating rapidly. We are looking to raise $3,750 to purchase an ORCam MyEye Pro to allow Malachi to maintain independence and continue pursuing his artistic passions. ORCam MyEye Pro is an innovative companion that both reads and translates the environment around the user allowing them to read any label, book or screen along with recognizing faces of friends and family and identifying products or objects around them. The ORCam MyEye Pro is currently on sale and our goal is the purchase this for Malachi before the New Year to allow him to learn to navigate the world and his art while combating this disease and what it is taking from him.
