The Alex Theatre St Kilda — home to bold new works, independent producers and artists, and located in a special part of Melbourne with over 100 years of performance history — is at a turning point. We’re launching a fundraiser to raise $30,000 by 30 June, and we need our community and arts lovers everywhere to rally behind us.

Alex Read Theatre Performances Inc. is a registered Australian charity committed to preserving The Alex Theatre as a sustainable venue for live performance and independent theatre, and to continue its legacy for future generations.

With your support, Alex Read Theatre Performances Inc. can:

Support essential building operations
Provide technical upgrades to venue sound, lighting and rigging
Provide opportunities for local actors, crews, and creatives
Support the development of new Australian works

Even if we don’t hit the full $30,000 goal, every milestone unlocks real progress for The Alex:

$5,000 helps cover electricity bills and investment into sustainable, modern, low-power equipment that’s better for the environment and reduces cost
$10,000 helps us adapt to future productions, with upgraded and removable seating, and more flexibility in the layout of our stages and performance spaces
$15,000 supports rigging, sound and lighting upgrades, allowing us to widen the scope of the type of performances we present, as we move towards a more immersive, interactive and high-tech experience
