Kay’s Westlund’s Pancreatic Journey
Doação protegida

She is facing months of chemo (every 14 days 7 hours at a time) and then a very long and challenging major surgery called a Whipple procedure to remove the cancerous mass from her pancreas, head of the pancreas, the duodenum and bile duct. She already had her gall bladder removed in a previous surgery.
She is focusing all of her efforts on fighting this devastating disease and will be unable to work 6 months minimum (if all goes well). Unfortunately, disability and insurance payments will not cover the immense expenses associated with fighting pancreatic cancer.
I first met Kay in Kimberly WI when we were both transferred there to open a new Shopko store. (Kay worked in the Optical department) I have known her for over forty years and am proud to call her my friend. Kay is a mother, grandmother, friend to many and a dedicated employee at Northwestern Mutual. She is usually the one supporting so many others in their time of need. She is precious and beautiful in so many ways. Now the tables have turned and she is the one who needs our help.
Kay faces so many challenges, including financial. For anyone who has gone through something similar, or had a family member experience cancer, you know the last thing you need to be worrying about is money. Every ounce of your energy needs to be focused on fighting the disease, taking care of yourself and recovery. If you have the ability to help Kay fight this overwhelming disease, we thank you for you generosity.
Your generosity will fund Kay’s living and medical expenses during her time in treatment and recovery. Her need is immediate so that she can take money concerns off the table and focus on what is most important right now.
