Haiti Orphanage Trip!
Donation protected
Hi Everyone!
Here goes...I have been wanting to go to Haiti with a good friend of mine for several years now. I have continuously put it off because money was always in short supply. I've decided that if it's meant for me to go I will be able to raise enough money to send me.
As you all know, I have a great passion for children and family. It would mean the world to me to be able to help build a home for a family in need. Moreover, to spread the love I have to the children living in the orphanage would be the most rewarding gift of all.
I have worked making a difference in my own community by volunteering for several years with SAFEchild, Habitat for Humanity, and by educating my students about children and families. I would like to be able to make a difference anywhere I can, be it in my community or somewhere around the world. This mission trip to Haiti would allow me to do just that.
Below are the details of the trip that I hope to go on.
“No Place Like Home” - Haiti Mission Trip 2015
Close to 150,000 people still live in tents and temporary shelters since the devastating 2010 earthquake. Often, entire families will live in small, one-room shelters, which are extremely vulnerable to hurricanes, earthquakes, rain, wind, mudslides, violence, and theft.
Individuals on our mission trips are given the opportunity to make a difference for a family in Haiti. The group will purchase building supplies for a cement block home for a family in the community of Michaud.
During the trip, the group will get to meet the family and will be given the opportunity to work together with a Haitian foreman (and some laborers) to help build the home.
There will also be an opportunity during our stay in Haiti to help at a nearby orphanage, building much needed playground equipment and teaching/assisting with English classes.
Please consider donating to this great cause. No donation is too small, $5, $10, $100...it all helps.
Thank you for supporting me on my journey to Haiti.
