Help for Harri

Hello, my name is Harriet.
I am a two year old playful, sometimes silly but always the sweetest hairy hound you'll ever meet.

I was only a few months old when my human saw a picture of me and decided she was going to meet me. My human lost a beautiful Bull Terrier and swore that she would never have another dog, I had other ideas for her though. When she met me she fell in love with me straight away, her heart knew that she was making the right decision and there was no way I wasn’t leaving with her. I’ve been her bestie and haven’t left her side since.

As of late mum has been having a rough time going through a long term breakup, which meant adjusting to life by herself with two hounds. Not being able to work because of Covid and fracturing her elbow too. I knew something wasn't right with mum when she wasn't going to work, my baby brother Wilson and I didn't understand why we didn’t get much time to go for walks. It wasn’t until she had her arm wrapped in this funny that we started to understand.

To add to mum’s stress, I have now found myself feeling quite sick and have been rushed to the emergency vet.

When my human came home from work today I greeted her with my brother as we usually would and I went outside while mum unpacked the car. A short time later Mum turned around and could see that I wasn't feeling too well. My body was wobbly and as mum tried to get me to go into the back of the car my legs went limp. I collapsed. Mum scooped all 30kgs of me up, put my brother in the car and started driving me to the closest vet. I couldn't hold my body up for too long after that. I had this weird foam stuff coming from my mouth and I could barely lift my head. Due to my symptoms, Mum thought I was bitten by a snake.

We rushed to the closet vet which is 45 minutes away, when we got there the vets did some tests on me and all my bloods came back that I wasn’t bitten by a snake but there was still some signs of a toxin in my system. My condition was worsening.

We were just getting my paperwork sorted to transfer me to a specialist centre in Adelaide when I started to lose more functions and couldn’t stop twitching, next thing I knew I vomited up something. I didn’t feel any better after that but at least we had answers, I have ingested something toxic.

As it stands now, I am having a sleep over at the vets. My mum and my brother Wilson are distraught and waiting for some news.

I would be so grateful if any of my friends would be able to help ease the financial stress this has caused my human. Our current estimate if I am discharged tomorrow (which is looking unlikely) will be $3000, and unfortunately our pet insurance only covers up to $1000.

Please help return me to my Mum and brother, any amount helps and so does spreading the word.
