Jon Papas Memorial Fund
On Thursday, October 22nd, Jon passed away due to complications after a 2+ year battle with Scleroderma. In lieu of flowers, his family is requesting a memorial be made to St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Annandale, MN.
Words cannot begin to fully portray Jon; a loving father, husband, brother, and friend to all. His larger-than-life personality made an impact on all that knew him. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends at the cabin on Bass Lake, supporting his sons in sports and other activities, cheering for Minnesota sports teams, and being involved with Minnesota local government politics.
St. Mark's had a significant impact on Jon's life; it was the church he married his wife of 30 years, Beth, the location where his two sons were baptized, and will be his final resting place. St. Mark's is the oldest operating Episcopal Church in the state of Minnesota, with 2020 being its 148th year of operation. As a member of the church board, Jon's duties as Senior Warden included upkeep of the church and coordinating weekly service. Jon dedicated many hours of his life to the church that gave him so much in return. For these reasons, the Papas family requests that all memorials be given to the St. Mark's, so it may continue to impact others for another 150+ years to come. All donations to this GoFundMe campaign will be directly deposited to the treasury account for St. Mark's.
A public visitation will be held on Saturday, October 31st at The Peterson Chapel in St. Michael, MN from 3 pm to 5 pm.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a private family church service will be held the following day at St. Marks Church.
