Join Us in Rebuilding Community Preschools in Malawi

My name is Victor Kamwendo. I am a community organizer working on the revitalization of Community Based Childcare Centers (CBCC) in rural west Lilongwe, Malawi.

The Community Based Care Centers provide early childhood education, nutrition, and basic care for vulnerable children in our community. However, many of the CBCCs are currently facing difficulties. The deterioration of classroom buildings keeps students from meeting in bad weather, some are unsafe to enter, and others do not have structures for learning at all.

In response to these challenges, we have launched a project aimed at revitalizing these care centers creating a safer and more conducive learning environment. The money raised through crowdfunding can carry out essential maintenance and repairs on the center’s infrastructure and provide much needed supplies.

Recently, we managed to repair the roof of one CBCC (Ntchentche). This has made the center safer for the children. However, there is still more work to be done. The floor is in bad condition and needs maintenance. Windows and doors are needed to protect from rain on the main school building and a storage shed.

To fully launch the school, we want to start the feeding program for the children. Food insecurity is at a critically high level in Malawi. By ensuring there is food available during school hours the children can better focus on learning.

To make the feeding program more sustainable, we have an idea of purchasing a piece of land for agriculture. By growing our own crops, we will be able to provide fresh and nutritious food for the children and reduce the cost of buying food.

We are therefore seeking financial support so that we can finish repairing the building, start a feeding program, and purchase land for agricultural production. Your contribution will directly impact the lives of the children in our community, improving their health, well being, and education.
