Join Terran's Journey: Sickle Cell Triumph

I am Terran Wright, a Jamaican, a professional, and one of over 20 million people worldwide living with Sickle Cell Disease (SCD).

Despite the daily challenges that come with this condition—bone pain, anaemia, and the risk of serious complications—I refuse to let it define me. Instead, I’ve chosen to push limits, break barriers, and show what is possible when faith, resilience, and determination converge.

In September 2025, I will compete in my second Ironman 70.3 triathlon in Augusta, Georgia, during Sickle Cell Awareness Month. This is not just a race—it is a statement:

➡️ That adversity can become opportunity.

➡️ That people with SCD can accomplish the extraordinary.

➡️ That raising awareness and funding for continued research, support, and care is vital.

Why This Matters?

Sickle Cell Disease disproportionately affects people of African descent but affects lives globally - regardless of race. In Jamaica, the Sickle Cell Foundation of Jamaica and the Sickle Cell Unit provides critical support, whilst in Georgia, the Sickle Cell Foundation of Georgia and Grady’s Sickle Cell Unit stand as beacons of hope. By completing this Ironman, I aim to bring visibility and awareness to their work and inspire others to join the fight for better care and better outcomes.
