John’O’groats to Leeds charity ride

More information about Martin House: Martin House provides care and support for children and young people with life-limiting illnesses, and their families. Our services are provided free of charge to families across West, North and East Yorkshire, and include respite care, symptom control, community care, end of life care and bereavement support. We also provide bereavement support to families whose child died from a life-limiting illness but did not have the opportunity to use the hospice.

Below are some examples of what the money might be used for, anything from a 1p to £1 could help this amazing charity pay for:

£1,000

Community team to visit 10 families in their own home, offering support and advice.

Seven days of counselling and emotional support given by a qualified counsellor for families at a time of heightened anxiety and worry.

£2,000

7 days of homemade food, giving families a chance to relax and enjoy a meal together.

£3,000

A specialist bed that will allow a child or young person to have a good night’s sleep.

£3,500

One of our Clinical Nurse Specialists for one month who is working with families in the community, assessing and treating their symptoms to reduce the burden on our NHS.

£4,500

Enables us to take a group of bereaved siblings on a camping trip.

£5,000

One of our Speciality Doctors for one month enabling families to receive advice, care and guidance from a doctor in Paediatric Palliative Medicine. This support available 24/7, negates the need for a GP appointment or hospital admission, alleviating current pressure on our NHS.

This charity does the most amazing things to help any family when they need it the most.
