Joel Bazaldua's Race to Recovery

Dear Ones,

On August 11, our son Joel Bazaldua was in a skateboarding accident that severely injured his brain. He was taken to Arkansas Children’s Hospital in Little Rock that night by ambulance with a traumatic brain injury and brain bleed. The next day, he had a three-hour emergency brain surgery where the doctors removed the left side of Joel’s skull. The surgery went well, but Joel’s left temporal lobe, which affects speech and word processing, is severely damaged.

The funds given here are so needed. Charlie is experiencing a loss of income while currently because he is here with Joel. They are still working through the in's and out's of health insurance for such a traumatic injury, as well as being in a hospital out of their network, just to name a few reasons it is helpful for the Bazaldua family to receive funds during this trying time. What a blessing to not need to add finances as another concern at this point. Your financial gifts are so appreciated. The drain in his brain has been removed, but the intracranial monitor (which measures the pressure in his brain) is still in place. If his levels are good, he will have a head MRI today.

We are praying for:

1. Total healing of his brain function (especially speech recognition and speech) and body.

2. That his head MRI will not reveal any new findings.

3. For his GI tract to “wake up” to absorb the nutrients necessary for his recovery.

Our weary bodies and minds are being held up by your prayers, love, support, encouragement, presence, and prophetic words. We receive them ALL and take them to heart. The Body of Christ is so beautiful, and each of you is sustaining us. Thank you all so much. Our gratitude cannot be adequately expressed.
