Joanna's Business Fund

My name is Joanna Guevara, and I'm raising money to start my own official business in Northern Nevada.

For all of my adolescent years, I strived in school. I had the pressure of my mother to bring in good grades and my fear of her reaction for anything less than a 'B average' was enough to keep me focused and doing well. That is, up until I got to college and realized that school was not something I can take serious in a time where I was discovering myself and my capabilities outside of a curriculum. I dropped out after a year and a half and ventured in many career fields.

In my early 20's I found a way to make many side gigs stable enough to keep me financially healthy. I was dog boarding at my house, and dog walking on days I wasn't boarding, I was quite popular with the the pet owners. I was teaching dance classes 3-4 hours a day 4-5 days out of the week. I was kept busy fulfilling orders from commission crafting (especially during covid, Masks were selling like crazy.) I was comfortable enough providing for myself. Until I met my husband and we had a child together. I went from being comfortable making money the way that I was, To scrambling to find a job that worked with my upgraded life title: MOM.

As I've grown into motherhood and wifeyhood, I've been able to imagine what kind of life I want to have for myself now that I have a husband and child. I've worked up a plan that allows me to stay involved with my daughter while also dedicating time to my husband. A plan where I can provide financial support to my family but get the creative outlet I have had lingering within me since losing all my side gigs. I was born and raised in Reno, Nevada, and I see the changes of modern living and modern trends rising. I want to bring the opportunity of personal growth and proper presentation of oneself in a way that has not been done in Reno before (or a least if it has, it's non existent as of today). Last year in 2023, I took a course and passed becoming a Certified Image Consultant, but I do not want to stop there. I am currently working on getting enrolled in a course that will certify me in becoming an Etiquette Consultant. An over all consultant of image and self presentation. Afterall, we only get one chance for a first impression.

"Look Good, Feel Good" has always been my motto, and now I can make a living from that same motto and help others apply it to themselves. If you are asking yourself, is there a market for it? Yes, I have thoroughly done my research to know that there is success in what I want to do, especially in a city that is ever growing. Image Consultants make as little as $350 per appointment in Los Angeles. I'd be the first of these kind of services here in Reno. I am ready to take on this challenge and push through to success. With your help and contribution, I can avoid pulling any kinds of business loans and avoid ridiculous interest rates from capitalist companies that don't care about what my purpose is. Instead, I will have the support of everyday people with dreams and aspirations, I will have moms who can relate, and college dropouts that figured it out, who can empathize having the intrusive thought of "What am I doing with my life?" I am now 29 years old, and I know now. I am reaching out to the community to help me, which is no easy task but I figured it wouldn't hurt to try. I am doing all the work I can to make this happen for myself as I know we cannot rely too much on the help of others, your contribution brings me one step closer to making my vision come to life.
