Some things stop us in our tracks.
Some families remind us of what love, courage, and resilience truly look like.
This is both…
We are reaching out on behalf of our beautiful Jen-someone who is so much more to us than we could ever capture in words.
Many of you know her as Jen Bishop from Interiors Addict: warm, generous, thoughtful, authentic, and real. But to us, she is 'our person'. She’s the friend whose door is always open, whose advice steadies us, whose humour lifts us, and whose heart makes everything feel a little bit more like home.
Most importantly, she is Seb and Charlie’s devoted mum, and Damian’s loving wife, with her entire family on the other side of the world!
Recently, Jen bravely shared the devastating news that she has been diagnosed with Stage 4 pancreatic cancer. Following her diagnosis, only 8 weeks ago, Jen was admitted to the hospital to try and get the pain under control, where she has been ever since, far from the sanctuary she cherishes-and away from the boys who are her whole world. The physical pain has made it impossible for her to be at home, and the isolation of the hospital, combined with the devastating and life-changing nature of the diagnosis, has been unimaginably tough.
Yet even in this, she remains Jen-courageous, real, hopeful, and meeting each day with as much honesty and grace as she can muster (all whilst wearing her signature pink lippy!).
As she continues chemotherapy (two rounds down), adapts to a new way of life, and focuses on what matters most-being with her boys-we want to wrap around her the same unwavering support she has given so freely to so many of us over the years.
Cancer takes an enormous toll emotionally and physically, but the financial burden is significant, too. With your help, we hope to ease the pressure of:
• Out-of-pocket medical and treatment costs
• Additional care and support while she remains in the hospital
• Lost income during treatment (particularly for someone self-employed)
• The impact on family life as Damian steps into an even bigger role at home.
Those who know Jen know she is fiercely independent. Despite her diagnosis, she continues to run her small business as much as possible, yet she recognises that any support that eases the enormous pressure on Damian-over what could be a long period-should not be dismissed out of pride or fear of being pitied.
Our hope is simple: to give Jen the space to rest, to heal, and to be with her boys without the weight of financial stress pressing in.
We know that so many people are asking how they can help-how they can show her love, respect her boundaries, and make this awful time even a tiny bit easier. In addition to her request to donate blood (https://www.lifeblood.com.au - Team: Jen Bishop), donating to this GoFundMe is a heartfelt, practical way to stand beside our Jen and her boys.
Right now, Jen’s deepest wish is to be discharged and home with her boys for Christmas.
Let’s surround her with the strength, generosity, and compassion she has poured into all of us.
Let’s give back even a fraction of the comfort, wisdom, and steadiness she has given so freely.
Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for your kindness, love, and support.
Jen's Village
(who adore her more than she will ever fully know)
