Jeff VanderBeek vs stage 4 colon cancer! #teambeek

Donation protected
Jeff was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer on September 13, 2019 at only 49 years old. He has endured surgery to remove part of his small intestine and colon, infection in his incision, sickness, complications and over a month’s worth of hospital stays. He was put on in-home hospice care on October 11, 2019 when he was released from the hospital and will stay on it indefinitely. Unfortunately, through all of this, he hasn’t been able to work. If you find it in your heart to donate to Jeff to help with current and future medical costs, please do!  There is no amount too small and any amount is truly appreciated. It would be amazing to help cover his medical expenses and even possibly be able to give to the girl's college funds so it can life the worry from Jeff!

Jeff has been doing really well for himself over the past few years and has made his girls his # 1 priority. Jeff had a job he really enjoyed while working nights at Pella Corporation and he had recently accepted a day position so that he could spend more time with his one daughter still living at home. He loves his girls more than anything in the world and is a great father. He has always enjoyed going to their activities which have included forte, softball and band. His oldest daughter Brynn, is a sophomore at the University of Norther Iowa pursing a degree in social work while his youngest daughter Jovi, is a sophomore at Pella High School. Both girls are amazing, and Jeff is so proud of them! Throughout all this his only concern has been about them. Jeff is truly a great guy who genuinely cares about others. Recently I heard a friend tell him the world is a better place with him in it.

Jeff went to the hospital on September 6, 2019, complaining of fatigue and an extreme stomachache. The doctors at Pella Regional Hospital admitted him and performed a colonoscopy on the 10th. During the exam they found some suspicious spots that they removed to biopsy and they also found a blockage. He was released and sent home with a diagnosis of Chron’s disease. On September 12, 2019 they called Jeff with the biopsy results saying that he had cancer and they would do surgery the following day to remove the blockage in his small intestine and colon. Once they opened Jeff up the doctor saw how bad the cancer was and would soon be giving Jeff the news, he had stage 4 colon cancer.

Little did Jeff know he would wake up from surgery to receive this terrible news. Obviously, he was devastated, as well as his entire family including his parents, siblings, and most of all his girls. Surgery did quite the number on Jeff which lead to a 4-week hospital stay which included sickness and infection. He was released on October 10, 2019 and immediately put on in-home hospice care. He will remain under hospice care indefinitely.

Jeff has been at home and feeling okay. He’s trying to spend as much time with family and friends as he can. He has chosen to live without treatment at this time and to just make the most out of the time he has left. He believes this is God’s plan for him and he hopes he has made a lasting impact on his family and friends. Please keep him and his family in your prayers.

This is an unimaginable diagnosis and our hearts are breaking for Jeff and his girls. It is the season for giving and spreading kindness. Please help if you can. God bless you!

We are also in the process of planning a benefit which will be held on January 25th, 2020 and hope if you are local you will be able to attend to show your support. We will keep you updated with details on the benefit.

Thank you!
