In December 2017 I decided it was time to leave my full time job at Wiley and focus on my baking full time. Within three months I found a great storefront in an amazing location and decided now is the time to make my dreams come true. I cashed out my 401k and signed the lease. I had a 2 month free abatement and thought it would take 5 months to get this all done. To my surprise the city of Jersey City had a ton of hurdles and hoops to go through to get all my permits complete. I had plumbing, electrical, contractors, architects and permits fees to pay all while paying rent, loans and personal bill's. I took out a loan to buy all equipment costing over 10k and have spent over 15k in construction and over 20k in rent for an unopened store thus far. I am now almost 1 year in, and I am still waiting on 2 final permit pieces. The shop (JBs Bake Shop) located by the Journal Square Path Station is furnished and constructed to go. As anyone can imagine this has been a rough financial strain especially since I am soooooo close to the end. I now have loans and credit card debt that I am paying and going into business opening with debt was my worst nightmare. Unfortunately, this is where I am and I'm so close. It has taken every bit of my pride and my mind to ask for help from friends and family to keep my dream going. Any help anyone can make to my dream of JBs Bake Shop storefront would be greatly appreciated. Any amount helps. Of course the faster I open the faster you can all come and visit and get your favorite desserts/pastries. I appreciate the time taken to read this and any help you can afford. To JBs Bake Shop.
