Funeral Arrangements

In august of 2021 Ignacio Javier Amoa contracted Covid.  Javier was taken to Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital for Pneumonia and was placed on a ventilator. Shortly after doctors called his family letting them know that he had a 5% chance of survival if an ECMO machine would not become available immediately.  Javier's entire family gathered at the hospital to say their goodbyes when Dr. Orr received a call that an ECMO machine became available. The Northwestern team and surgeons rushed the ECMO machine, special team and specialized ambulance to Lake forest hospital to install the machine and transport Javier and all the machines he was connected to downtown to the specialized unit where he fought harder than any human I have ever met to survive and come home to his family.  Javier spent the rest of the year at Northwestern hooked up to ventilators, ECOM machine, and various other apparatus, unable to move, talk, walk or breath on his own. HE FOUGHT AND FOUGHT! On January 14th he was strong enough and was blessed to receive a double lung transplant. The fight to live had now begun a new type of fight. Javier finally came home on March 23rd 2021 on over 25 different medication that his wife Maria manages every day. He has to be cared for around the clock with breathing treatments and 3 visits to clinic visits and rehab every week.  He has been back to the hospital 3 times since his release and is now back in the hospital once again fighting for his life. Javier is extremely weak, not eating, losing a lot of weight, cannot sleep comfortably, etc. Javier and his family are in desperate need of your help. With Maria, his wife needing to be at his side at all times she has been unable to financially support the family. Javier was a local cell phone repair store owner in the community where he lived and had to shut down his business because of the situation.
