Jamestown, RI Half Marathon

Christopher’s Mark Cancer Foundation was founded by Lisa and Chris Mullen after the loss of their son, Christopher, to pediatric cancer. Their inspiration for this foundation, in addition to Christopher, were the other families that they met through this journey.  These families offered an understanding ear, hours of conversation and hope.  Not only were these families dealing with the life-changing diagnosis that their child received, but many of them were experiencing financial issues too.  Medical bills begin to pile up and other expenses such as parking, meals, and travel begin to take a toll.  Many families need to relocate or travel for their child’s care, leaving their other family members behind.  In order to care for their child, one parent will usually need to leave their job thus decreasing their household income. 

Children’s Hospital Boston has many existing programs and resources to help ease the daily burden for patients and their families, both financially and emotionally – parking and meal vouchers, pizza parties, programs for siblings, transportation assistance, weekly inpatient support groups – just to name a few.

Christopher’s Mark will provide funding for these programs and for pediatric cancer research.

Christopher left his “mark” on all those that knew him as well as those who followed his courageous fight.  

On September 22nd, 2018 Chloe Noxon, Jen Noxon, Ann Rourke, Emily Rourke, and LuLu Rourke will be participating in this road race to remember Christopher and to make a mark in the fight against childhood cancer.  Any donation you make is greatly appreciated.  Thank you!
