Jack’s Brain cancer therapies

Hi, my name is Jess, I am Jack’s wife and I am raising funds for Jack Baxter, who is bravely battling a Grade 4 astrocytoma. This is our story.

In February 2022, Jack suffered a sudden and severe seizure that came completely out of nowhere. After urgent scans, we were devastated to learn he had a large brain tumour ( Grade 2 glioma ) On March 1st, 2022, he underwent a nine hour surgery at the Royal London Hospital. Thanks to the extraordinary surgical team, almost all of the tumour was removed.

His recovery was long and difficult. Jack had to relearn how to speak, rebuild his confidence in conversation, and regain the ability to complete everyday tasks. Watching him fight his way back was inspiring to say the very least

For nearly two years after surgery, his scans remained stable. During that precious time, we focused on truly living. We poured our hearts into renovating our beloved houseboat, and in July 2024 Jack asked me to marry him. Then, in January 2025, we were overjoyed to discover we were expecting a baby.

We were married on February 14th, 2025. Just one week later, our world was shaken again, Jack’s tumour had mutated and was growing.

He underwent a second surgery almost immediately. While surgeons removed as much of the new growth as possible, they were unable to remove it all. A week later, while I was four months pregnant, we received the heartbreaking news that the tumour now contained Grade 4 cells.

Since then, Jack has completed six weeks of radiotherapy and is currently six months into a twelve month course of chemotherapy. In September 2025, our beautiful baby boy was born, a moment of light during an incredibly difficult time.

Despite the devastating prognosis that comes with this diagnosis, Jack refuses to give up. He continues treatment with the phenomenal teams at Bart’s and the Royal London Hospital, and alongside this he hopes to explore alternative therapies. These therapies could help manage his autoimmune arthritis, reduce his physical pain, and improve his quality of life allowing him to spend more comfortable, meaningful time with our son and our family.

To support this journey, we have made the difficult decision to put our houseboat up for sale so we can move to land where daily life will be more accessible and manageable for Jack.

The funds raised will go toward these additional therapies and the adjustments needed to give him the best possible chance at comfort, healing, and time with his family.

Thank you so much for all of your support so far.

All monies raised will be handed by myself and used to fund various types therapy sessions for Jack to aid in his comfort and hopefully healing, everything from sound frequency to somatic work, acupuncture, psychological therapy, nutritionists and all inbetween.

If we raise more than anticipated these funds will also be used to help make Jack’s living space more comfortable so that we can move from the boat to an apartment on land where access for him & for any emergency services will be tremendously easier.

We still believe in miracles, and we hold onto hope every day. If you are able to offer financial support, we are deeply grateful. If not, we simply ask that you keep Jack in your thoughts and prayers.

With all our love,
The Baxters
