My name is Taqiyya Wallace, and I serve on the Board of Directors for Brick Road Life Skills (BRLS).

In the heart of our urban communities, thousands of young people ages 16 to 24 are standing at a crossroads. For many, the "road" ahead is obscured by a lack of resources, guidance, and opportunity. At Brick Road, we believe that where you start shouldn't dictate where you finish.

Who We Are

We guide young people through life’s winding roads by connecting them with Credible Mentors—individuals who have walked these same city streets, faced the same storms, and found their way to the other side. Through hands-on learning and real-world experiences, we help vulnerable and at-risk youth navigate obstacles, discover their strengths, and build the confidence to chart their own successful journeys.

The Focus: 16–24 Year Olds

This age range is a critical turning point. It is the transition from school to the workforce, from dependence to independence. We focus on this demographic because they are the future of NYC's infrastructure. Whether they are exploring "Green Collar" careers in solar and HVAC or navigating the paths to city agencies like the MTA, we provide the "map" they need to succeed.
