International Student Emergency Relief
Donation protected
This fundraiser will create an emergency relief fund for international grad students.
Graduate students span a range of ages, family situations, and hometowns. But for many of us, it's a common time to become a caretaker to a parent or grandparent. Since the pandemic, this has only become more common. Help us build this fund to support the caretakers, so they can focus on what matters.
The biggest fear of moving abroad is that something will happen to your family while you're away. Beyond the typical costs associated with illness, caretaking, and death, international students face more barriers and hardships. Unexpected flights overseas can cost thousands of dollars. Paying for housing in multiple countries, often on short-term agreements, adds up quickly. For those in the US on visas, there are also many restrictions on if, when, and for how long you can return home. Students on visas also face economic precarity, as they're unable to take on additional jobs off-campus.
Our international students are an integral part of our community. Help us give back to them, and the communities they come from.
