In Memory of Julie Ann Desloover

Donation protected

Hello, we are Landin and Arielle, and we are raising funds in memory of our beloved mother, Julie Ann Desloover. Our mother passed away August 19th at 5:43pm from a anoxic brain injury that resulted in extensive brain damage. We want to ensure that we are prepared to honor her memory and take care of the necessary arrangements.

Our mom was the third oldest of six children born to Gerald and Jolaine Desloover. She was a loving mother and grandmother to us and her three grandchildren: Scarlett, Violett, and Miles.

Our mother was very sick, battling both mental health challenges and addiction for many years. Despite these struggles, she remained deeply committed to helping others. Mom worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), dedicating her life to helping the elderly, individuals with special needs, and those in hospice care. She often sought out opportunities to give what she had to someone less fortunate, even if it was something as small as a bottle of water or a can of pop.

She was a self-proclaimed "free spirit," and she definitely lived up to that title. Those who knew her best can attest to her free-spirited nature. She had a deep love for art, music, spirituality, and animals, which were integral parts of her life. More importantly, she was the best mom she could be, even though her sickness sometimes got in the way. We know deep down that she wanted to be the mother we needed, but addiction is a terrible disease, and we really want to help break the stigma surrounding it. This is something most people can’t fully grasp until they have gone through it themselves or have someone close to them go through it. She always believed that love could change the world, and her life reflected that belief in everything she did.

While we are raising money to help cover the costs of her cremation, a celebration of life, and planting a memorial weeping willow tree—her favorite tree—using some of her ashes on my sister's property, the majority of the funds will be dedicated to two important causes that were close to our mom’s heart:

• A significant portion will be donated to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), an organization dedicated to helping individuals like our mom who struggled with mental health and addiction.

• Another large portion will be used to establish an educational fund for her three grandchildren, ensuring that her legacy lives on through their futures.

Additionally, a portion of the funds will support our family as we navigate this difficult time.

Any contribution, no matter how small, would mean the world to us as we honor our mom’s memory and help support those she loved. Thank you for your kindness and generosity during this challenging time.
