I am the proud mom of a very special young man, Tyler Stewart. Tyler at age 16 was diagnosed Oct. 27, 2015, with Advaned Crohn's Disease -just weeks before his 17 th birthday, He worked hard playing hockey in order to make the high school hockey team. He received the news he made the varsity team as he sat in a hospital bed and had to decline the position due Crohn's Disease. Tyler is so amazing that despite this life altering condition and two more hospitalizations he has maintained high honor roll status in school. This condition has now also changed his future plans of joining our military since Crohn's is a medical preclusion. His latest hospitalization was 17 days long, including surgery and multiple complications. He was discharged from the hospital for a day and has returned with no clear end in current sight facing most likely another surgery.
It is so very difficult to ask for help but I realize financially my family is now in jeopardy. I am thankful for family FMLA but unfortunately there is no compensation. It does allow me to remain at his bedside caring for him. If we could raise funds it will allow me maintain our home, utilities, the cost of his hospitalizations, and medication ( medications are nearly 200 every month.)
It would mean the world to me to receive any assistance at all and alleviate the stress of financial difficulties so I can continue to focus totally on being his support and care giver during the most difficult time of our lives and the greatest challenge Tyler has ever faced.
