In the coastal area of Nayarit, Mexico, some students previously spent two hours each day commuting to access bilingual secondary education. Today, through the support of Roots Foundation, 12 local students have access to a safe, supportive, globally minded learning environment much closer to home.

High-quality education gives students more than academic knowledge — it builds confidence, critical thinking, leadership, creativity, communication skills, and expands future opportunities. Through scholarships and community support, Roots is helping motivated young people and their families access an educational experience that empowers them to thrive, contribute to their communities, and pursue opportunities that may otherwise be out of reach.

During the 2025–2026 school year, Roots proudly supported 12 scholarship students attending a bilingual, globally minded middle and high school on the Nayarit coast.

As we prepare for the 2026–2027 academic year, we have already received 11 additional scholarship applications — reflecting both the growing need and strong community interest in expanded educational opportunities.

Full tuition is approximately $5,000 USD per academic year. Scholarship support may cover 95%, 75%, 50%, or 25% of tuition costs depending on each family’s financial circumstances and level of need.

Scholarships are awarded through a thoughtful review process that considers financial need, academic merit, personal essays, and teacher recommendations, with final selections made by a dedicated scholarship committee.

Our goal is to continue funding the current 12 students while expanding scholarship support for as many of the 11 new applicants as possible. While a full scholarship is approximately $5,000 USD per year, donations of any size directly help expand access to education.
