Help Jeremy Beat Cancer
Doação protegida
I’ve already come so far – and I’m not ready to give up yet.
My name is Jeremy Giesbrecht. I’m 47 years old and the proud father of two young sons: curious and adventurous David, who just turned five, and affectionate and talkative two-year-old Calvin. I’m also the ridiculously lucky husband of Kathy, the gentlest, most giving soul I’ve ever encountered, the glue who holds us all together. I’m a follower of Jesus and an active member of our church.
And I have brain cancer.
I already thought I’d beaten the odds after successfully managing Type I diabetes and surviving a near-fatal heart attack six years ago. But a few months ago, just before the pandemic hit, I stumbled on the stairs – my foot didn’t seem to be where I thought it was.
To be safe, I went to the doctor … and received a diagnosis that once again threatens my life: Glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer.
To be honest, the outlook isn’t great. It’s a terminal diagnosis.
But I’m not going down without a fight.
Life is too precious, too meaningful to not pull out all the stops. I want to have every moment possible to wrap my arms around my wife, share my lifelong love of music with my boys, tickle them into a fit of giggles, and feel their precious kisses against my cheek.
If I’m going to survive, I need your help.
I’ve already gone through six weeks of chemo and radiation. But I want to do more. A few years ago, my brother-in-law received successful alternative cancer treatment called Photo-Dynamic Therapy. It’s non-toxic and science-backed – and it works. Doctors using this treatment have had countless successes at prolonging survival, improving quality of life and even reversing Stage 4 cancers.
My goal is to travel to the Hope4Cancer clinic in Tijuana, Mexico, to receive this treatment. I could start right away. All I need are the funds.
The cost of treatment, travel and lodging is about $60,000 CAD. Kathy and I have already been the recipients of such incredible support and generosity, and it’s truly humbling. We’re getting by with our current expenses, but I’ve been mostly unable to work (or barely function some days) since my diagnosis and beginning chemo and radiation treatment. We simply don’t have the funds needed for this potentially life-saving treatment.
People have been asking, “What can we do to help?” And here’s the simple answer:
Please donate toward my treatment at the Hope4Cancer clinic in Mexico.
Asking for help doesn’t come easily for me. I’ve always valued being able to stand on my own two feet and take care of my family. But if these last few months have shown me anything, it’s that we’re all in this together. We need help to make it through our darkest moments. And believe me, for me and my family, THIS is our darkest moment.
Please fight with me, for the sake of those I love and those who love me.
Thank you.
