Honoring the legacy of Claudette Harrell Gallman

On February 28th 2023 this lovely woman went on to Glory to be with her Lord and savior. Claudette Harrell Gallman was a beautiful person inside and out who always held service in high regard.

Claudette's humble beginnings started as a youth in New Orleans Louisiana, where she was born and raised. She was known for being a scout leader where she served as girl scout leader, den mother and nurturing mother to the kids in the community.

Later in life she became involved with Lions Club International, serving in the local chapter in Griffin Georgia. She was instrumental in the growth of the club by serving as President for multiple terms. She had been recognized with awards and honors, too many to mention. The most memorable are the Hall of Fame award, Melvin Jones Fellowship award ( which is the highest honor in Lions Club) and Lion Club member of the year. She later was recognized by channel 2 WSB-TV as "Community Champion" in 2015, where she was featured on TV. One of her most favorite bucket list items was to have had the opportunity to meet one of our nation's most notable humanitarians, President Jimmy Carter. President Carter a lifetime lion club member welcomed my father and she to his church for service in Plains Georgia just a few years ago. Anyone knowing my mom can envision her welcoming President Carter to heaven when his time comes.

As President of the Griffin Lions Club she was instrumental in recruitment and fundraising. She became the top recruiter of the club and had ingenious ideas of fundraising. Some of the most memorable fundraisers that she organized were a Mardi Gras dance, Jazz brunch and Food cook-off contest. The food cook-off contest was one of the last major fundraisers that she organized and participated in. Her skills paid off. She won first prize for her famous Louisiana gumbo dish, for which she was most proud. In participation of this event she persevered illness, however just days later she became so ill she had to be emergency evacuated by air ambulance for medical treatment of a serious illness.

After a lengthy recovery she again willed herself to return to her humanitarian efforts to provide vision care and services to the community. She organized vision screening events in the Griffin Spalding schools, at local fairs and events including visitations to the senior center.

Her family request financial donations in lieu of flowers to continue to support her efforts of humanitarian services in the Griffin Spalding community. Funds that are raised will help support the Griffin Lions Club efforts and perpetuate her legacy. For all those who knew Claudette, knows she was a loving, caring and giving spirit. Will you please consider a monetary donation in Claudette Gallman's memory?
