Honoring Our Legacy: The BIG 22 AMU Bitburg Veterans Reunion &
McDonnell Douglas F-15C Eagle 79-0022
We are the proud veterans of the United States Air Force's 22nd Aircraft Maintenance Unit (AMU), and we're thrilled to announce our upcoming reunion, "The BIG 22 AMU Bitburg," taking place on September 26th, 2025, at the Pueblo Weisbrod Aircraft Museum (PWAM) in Pueblo, Colorado! With only two months to go, we're reaching out for your support to make this event truly special and impactful.
Why Your Support Matters
This GoFundMe campaign aims to achieve several vital objectives, all centered around celebrating our shared history, honoring our service, and supporting a fantastic institution:
Supporting the Pueblo Weisbrod Aircraft Museum (PWAM): PWAM is doing incredible work in the continued restoration, preservation, and display of historic aircraft. Your contributions will directly assist their mission, ensuring these magnificent machines continue to inspire future generations.
Welcoming a New "Warthog": We'll be there to welcome and honor the arrival of the museum's newest asset, an A-10A Thunderbolt II "Warthog." This iconic aircraft holds a special place in the hearts of many in the Air Force community, and we're excited to see it join the PWAM collection.
Promoting the Legacy of the F-15C Eagle USAF SN 79-0022: This particular McDonnell Douglas F-15C Eagle, Tail Number 79-0022, is a true "Cold War Sentinel, Hot War Warrior." Rescued from the "Boneyard" (the 309th Aerospace Maintenance and Regeneration Group - AMARG) in 2018, it was meticulously restored and preserved by the Pueblo Historical Aircraft Society for display at PWAM. We want to further promote its incredible history and educational value.
Defraying Reunion Costs: Your generosity will help cover essential reunion activities, ensuring a memorable experience for our veterans. This includes:
Live professional music entertainment by Martin "Martino" Gerschwitz (Keyboardist of "Breakpoint" and "Iron Butterfly") and Friends.
Delicious lunch and refreshments provided by Andy Moffitt and "Rock n Roll Roadshows."
Establishing Ongoing Support for PWAM: Beyond this reunion, we aim to establish a continued relationship of support for PWAM through ongoing interaction between the BIG 22 AMU veterans and our associates.
A Reunion to Remember!
This year's reunion promises to be the best gathering of "Stingers" and "Adlers" yet! Our tentative agenda includes:
A "Meet and Greet" at Pueblo Extended Stay America Premier.
The premiere of the 22 Aircraft Maintenance Unit TV film documentary by Nick Coleman of Coleman Television!
An incredible opportunity to see the US Air Force Thunderbirds performing at the "Pueblo Wings of Pride" Air Show! PWAM is even arranging for our members to park personal vehicles at the museum during the airshow.
Entertainment by the talented Martin Gerschwitz and friends.
Lunch and refreshments by Andy Moffitt and Rock n Roll Roadshows.
More updates and a detailed schedule of events will be shared soon!
