It is with heavy hearts and deep sadness that we share the news of the passing of Thomas Rollins during the Christmas holiday.

Tommy, under the monikers of Tommy Gunn, Megalon, and Black Geezus, is a powerful part of New York’s Hip Hop legacy. As an uncompromising, raw, and multidimensional lyricist, he helped usher in an era of underground rap music that stood firmly against imitation and dilution. His voice, truth, presence, originality, and energy are forever woven into the legacy of the MF DOOM’s “Operation Doomsday,” Monsta Island Czars’ “Escape from Monsta Island,” and his solo effort “A Penny For Your Thoughts.”

Beyond the music, Tommy was a father, a brother, a son, an uncle, a cousin, a mentor, and a survivor... Those who knew him personally understood that his heart ran deeper than the records and his love for his close people was always real.

Raven (Tommy’s daughter), Janelle (his only living sister), and I are curating this campaign with love and care for his family as we all navigate this really challenging time. We kindly ask that everyone please respect the privacy of the family regarding the details of Tommy’s transition during this time of mourning.
