Honoring Leo: A Memorial for Our Brave Little Lion
Donation protected
Hello, we are the Galvez family, and we are writing this with broken hearts.
We are creating this GoFundMe for our precious son, Leandro—our Leo.
In October 2024, our world was turned upside down when Leo was diagnosed with kidney cancer, known as Wilms tumor. He was just a little boy with a bright smile, full of energy and love. Despite the diagnosis, we were hopeful. Leo had surgery to remove his kidney and bravely started chemotherapy. We believed, with everything in us, that he would beat this.
But cancer is cruel.
Just when we thought we were moving forward, we were hit with devastating news: the cancer had returned. A new tumor was found in the same area, and in March, Leo underwent another surgery. We prepared ourselves for another round of treatment—chemo and radiation. We still held onto hope.
Then, something changed. Leo stopped moving his legs. We rushed him to the emergency room, praying it was something minor. But after an MRI, our worst fears were confirmed—a tumor had spread to his spine. Another emergency surgery followed.
Then came the words no parent should ever hear.
The cancer has spread. It’s aggressive. And our sweet boy has been given just a few weeks to live.
We are shattered. There is no way to describe the pain of watching your child suffer, knowing there’s nothing left to do but hold their hand and love them through every moment.
Leo is more than a diagnosis—he is our sunshine, our fighter, our heart. His courage has inspired everyone around him. And even now, in the face of unthinkable pain, he smiles when he can, reminding us of his strength and his light.
We are creating this GoFundMe to help us stay by Leo’s side in his final days, and to give us the space to grieve without the added weight of financial burdens. We want to honor him. We want to hold him close. We want to be present, without worrying about the costs of this heartbreak.
From the depths of our hearts, we thank you. Every donation, every prayer, every message of support means the world to our family. Thank you for standing with us as we walk this path no parent should ever have to take.
With love,
