Honoring Joann Natalia Aquino: Seattle Memorial Fund

Before her passing, Joann shared a beautiful wish: if she were to pass in Hawai’i, she wanted her ashes spread in the ocean. As she put it, “The Pacific Ocean will flow from Hawai’i to the Philippines, my birthplace, to Seattle, where I grew up.” We honored her wish in Hawai’i, and now, we want to honor her spirit in Seattle, the place that shaped so much of who she was.

On April 27th, from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Prichard Beach, we will gather to celebrate Joann’s life and the profound impact she had on everyone who knew her. This memorial will be a space for love, remembrance, and community—just as she would have wanted.

If you’d like to contribute to the Seattle Memorial Fund, your donation will help bring together family, friends, and loved ones to honor Joann’s legacy in a heartfelt way. Your donation will go towards fees for the event space, honorarium for participating artists, and related costs. We will donate any unused funds in memory of Joann to A Resting Place in the International District, a Grief and Loss Cultural Center.

Your generosity will ensure this tribute is a beautiful and meaningful reflection of the love she shared with the world.
