Tout a commencé lorsque j'ai trouvé une vieille photo de ma mère, assise près d'une église, devant un lac. J'étais loin de me douter que cette photo allait changer ma vie...

Je m'appelle Estelle Macary Serekian.

Je suis française d’origine arménienne du côté maternel. Depuis mon enfance, je suis amoureuse du Cinéma, animée par la force des récits et des émotions qu'il suscite. Cette passion m'a conduite à étudier l'Art Dramatique pendant quatre ans au Cours Florent, avant de devenir actrice à Paris, où j'exerce mon métier avec amour et engagement depuis plusieurs années.

Lorsque j'ai interrogé ma mère à propos de cette photo, j'ai immédiatement ressenti un besoin viscéral de comprendre d'où je viens.

J’ai aussi toujours voulu mettre en lumière l'Arménie, ce petit pays à la beauté incommensurable dont la force et l'espoir sont admirables.

C'est ainsi qu'est née l'idée de ce film “Hoki Yerkir” ou “Pays d’Âme”, pour faire découvrir au monde la beauté de l'Arménie, à travers les yeux émerveillés et émus d'une jeune femme à la recherche de ses origines.

"Après avoir trouvé une mystérieuse photo de sa mère en Arménie, une jeune Parisienne quitte tout pour suivre ses traces et découvrir son pays d’âme. Elle entreprend un voyage épique, empli d'émotions et de rencontres qui vont bouleverser sa vie. Au fil de ce périple, elle découvre le passé troublant de sa mère, un secret enfin dévoilé qui lui permet de comprendre d’où elle vient et d’avancer, portée par une lumière nouvelle."

Certains voyages sont anecdotiques ou divertissants, celui-ci, au cœur de l'Arménie, est fondateur. C'est une odyssée, un refuge, un pèlerinage et une ode à la vie, à l'amour et à la mémoire.

Je suis arrivée à Yerevan pour la première fois en juillet 2024, sans connaître personne, avec mon scénario en main, et j'ai travaillé ardemment pour faire de mon projet une réalité.

Je suis maintenant bénévole auprès de Birthright Armenia (https://birthrightarmenia.org) et je participe à l'organisation du Festival International du Cinéma Golden Apricot. Cela m'a permis de me familiariser avec l'industrie cinématographique locale.

Le travail progresse très bien. Je suis maintenant entourée d'une équipe formidable. Le film sera réalisé par Jivan Avetisyan, réalisateur arménien internationalement reconnu (Berlinale Talents 2020, membre de l’Académie Européenne du Cinéma), et produit par Fish Eye Art Cultural Foundation & Life Tree Projects (Arménie) et Moukda Production (France).

Nous sommes activement à la recherche de financements pour donner vie à ce lumineux film, avec l'objectif de le partager au monde entier à travers les Festivals de Cinéma Internationaux et Arméniens, les salles de Cinéma, et les plateformes de films.

Hi there! Barev dzez!

My name is Estelle Macary Serekian.

I am half French, half Armenian through my mother. From an early age, I have been deeply passionate about cinema, captivated by the power of storytelling and emotions. This passion led me to study Dramatic Arts for four years at Cours Florent and to become an actress in Paris, where I have been working for several years.

It all started when I found this old photo of my mom, sitting by a church, in front of a lake. Little did I know, this photo would change my life…

When I asked my mom about the photo, I immediately felt a visceral need to understand where I came from! I also always wanted to highlight Armenia, tiny country of immeasurable beauty and admirable strength and hope.

And that's how the idea is born, with the will to bring my love for Armenia to the public through an epic journey back to my roots.

“Hoki Yerkir” or “Soul Country” is about showing the beauty of Armenia through the eyes, full of wonder and emotion, of a young woman in search of her origins.

Synopsis:

"After finding a mysterious photograph of her mother, a young woman from Paris decides to quit her job and everything she knows to follow in her mother’s footsteps and discover Armenia, her soul country. She goes on an epic journey, full of challenges, emotions and encounters that will change her life. Along the way, she also uncovers her mother’s unsettling past, a buried secret that will finally allow her to understand where she comes from and move forward, guided by a new light."

Some journeys are anecdotal or entertaining, this one, in the heart of Armenia, is foundational. It's an odyssey, a pilgrimage and an ode to life, love and memory.

I came to Yerevan for the first time in July 2024, without knowing anyone, with my script in hand and I have been working very hard to make it happen.

I now volunteer with Birthright Armenia (https://birthrightarmenia.org) and have been involved in the organization of the Golden Apricot International Film Festival. It allowed me to get acquainted with the local film industry.

The work is progressing very well. I am now surrounded by a wonderful team, directed by Jivan Avetisyan, a talented Armenian filmmaker, member of the European Film Academy and Berlinale Talents 2020 (https://www.imdb.com/fr/name/nm6056651/) and produced by Fish Eye Art Cultural Foundation & Life Tree Projects (Armenia) and Moukda Production (France).

We are actively applying for funding in order to create this beautiful film, with the goal of sharing it with the world through International and Armenian Film Festivals, Cinemas and Film platforms.
