Saturday June 21st Mason participated in the Chad smith ride for life out of albertville. The ride left at 10:30 in the morning. Mason had made it about 3 miles into the ride when the breaks on his bike locked up. This causes his bike to fishtail and going over the handlebars. He was rushed by ambulance to north memorial in robinsdale. Went directly into craniotomy. He was in surgery for about 2 hours, before we got an update about his status. The surgeon said he has severe bleeding in the brain, and skull fractures. The had to take part of his brain out to get the bleeding under control. Mason has yet to wake up from this. He is on a ventilator and is fully sedated. We left after seeing him so he could rest for the night. At about 7pm that same night we got a phone call from the hospital to come back. The doctors think he was actively having a stroke. They put a catheter in to measure the pressure on his brain. We do not know the condition until further testing.
