HIMALAYAN TREK FOR RAILWAY CHILDREN

Hello! Thank you for viewing our fundraising page. I (Declan) have been given a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity by Worldline to participate in the Himalayan Trek for the Railway Children. I have been tasked with raising a total of £1,000 before the trip on 6th October. Over the 12 days, I will be trekking for between five and nine hours each day and covering a range of different terrains including forests, fields, ridges, boulders, and rivers. Towards the end of the trip, I will experience firsthand what the railway children deal with on a day-to-day basis outside of the UK. This is an amazing opportunity so please dig deep for any spare cash!!! You will be helping such a good cause. All money raised will be going directly to the Railway Children (charity no. 1058991).
Furthermore, I will be taking a banner with me which I will take photos with at different points of the Trek. If you would like to write a personalised message that I can put on the banner and show to everyone through social media that would be amazing! Please specify this when donating to the comment box so I can see and add it :)

A little more about the railway children -
The Railway Children charity originated in India in 1989 when founder David Maidment visited the country on a business trip. David witnessed vast numbers of street children around the country’s railway network desperately struggling for survival. This powerful memory stayed with him and in 1996, he decided to set up the Railway Children charity.

These children often fall foul of street living through no fault of their own, whether caused by family separation or being forced into begging. It is our duty to help change the fate of these children and support them in their future development.

Vulnerable children found on the streets is a global issue affecting countries both rich and poor. David Maiment realized this and soon set up charity operations in the UK. This only emphasizes the poignancy of the charity’s work. All children are at risk. The challenge is great, but so are the opportunities.

Despite the wide scope of cultural differences faced across these continents, the core purpose of the charity’s work remains the same; to help keep children safe and achieve their full potential.

Real visible change is being achieved with the success of operations around re-housing, consultation and research among others. We must keep up this momentum and your donations help enable the charity to continue working at Governmental level to influence change.

So far more around 275,000 young lives have been changed for the better, and it is the charity’s modus operandi to reach far more.

These children are the future, but we must help get them there. Your support will help achieve this.
